Disability Rights Washington seeks an Office Assistant to provide support to DRW generally half of the time, and to our Office of Development Disabilities Ombuds (DD Ombuds) program the other half of the time. This position will be will be based in our Seattle office. There is the opportunity for some remote work due to COVID but due to mailing needs there in-person work needed immediately. We adhere to all COVID guidelines and have very limited staff in the office currently.

Office Assistant Sought
DRW seeks an Office Assistant to work 35 hours per week in our Seattle Office.  Work will be within our regular work week of 9:00 – 4:30, Monday to Friday. There may be occasional work on Saturdays or evenings to provide logistical support for meetings (negotiable).  Due to the nature of our advocacy, calls can be intense and emotionally taxing.


  • Experience with multi-line phones and customer service
  • Demonstrated data entry skills
  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of word processing, file maintenance, project administration, time management, inventories and purchasing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general office procedures and use of these principles in the performance of duties
  • Proven reliability in attendance

Technical Assistance Support Duties

  • Maintains caller and visitor confidentiality
  • Provides timely mailing assistance to resource advocacy staff
  • Replies to general information requests with accurate information
  • Does data entry
  • Research projects
  • Maintains publication inventory and tracks publications in database
  • Provides clerical and administrative support to staff

Accounts Payable Related Data Entry

  • Data entry related to credit card purchases and invoice payments
  • Data entry related to staff expense reimbursements
  • Performs internal controls and segregation of accounting duty functions to the extent assigned

Main Reception Duties

  • Answers general phone inquiries using a professional and courteous manner
  • Assures the reception area and the phones area are always staffed
  • Directs phone and email inquiries to the appropriate staff members
  • Forwards voicemail from the general mailbox to the appropriate staff member;
  • Greets clients/suppliers/visitors to the organization in a professional and friendly manner
  • Uses respectful language

Office Administration Duties

  • Ensures office equipment is in working order
  • Codes and files material according to the established procedures
  • Maintains mail, check and copier logs
  • Prepares and sends outgoing faxes, mail, and courier parcels
  • Logistical support for meetings
  • Travel booking and coordination
  • Responsible for general office upkeep (cleaning kitchen, loading dishwasher), watering of plants, etc.
  • Provides copying services
  • Use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Acrobat DC, and Internet

Salary and Benefits

Standard work week is 35 hours. Salary range is $38,400 – 43,600 per year plus travel expenses, excellent benefits, and leave.
