Seeking Part-Time Office Assistant in Seattle office of disability rights non-profit

Disability Rights Washington seeks an Office Assistant to provide support to our Office of Development Disabilities Ombuds (DD Ombuds) program. This position will be will be based in our Seattle office. There is the opportunity for some remote work due to COVID but due to mailing needs there in-person work needed immediately. We adhere to all COVID guidelines and have very limited staff in the office currently.

Office Assistant Sought
DRW seeks an Office Assistant to work 20 hours per week in our Seattle Office.  Work will be within our regular work week of 9:00 – 4:30, Monday to Friday. There may be occasional work on Saturdays or evenings to provide logistical support for meetings (negotiable).  Due to the nature of our advocacy, calls can be intense and emotionally taxing.



  • Experience with multi-line phones and customer service
  • Demonstrated data entry skills
  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of word processing, file maintenance, project administration, time management, inventories and purchasing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general office procedures and use of these principles in the performance of duties
  • Proven reliability in attendance
  • Motivated and proactive in seeking out work

  • Provides copying services;
  • Maintains caller and visitor confidentiality;
  • Maintains publication inventory and tracks publications in database;
  • Provides timely mailing assistance;
  • Replies to general information requests with accurate information;
  • Does data entry into to the Disability Advocacy Database (DAD) for DD Ombuds data;
  • Provides clerical and administrative support to Office of DD Ombuds employees;
  • Maintains files;
  • Provide logistical support for meetings;
  • Makes travel arrangements;
  • Directs phone and email inquiries to the appropriate staff members;
  • Forwards voicemail from the general mailbox to the appropriate staff member;
  • Greets clients/suppliers/visitors to the organization in a professional and friendly manner;
  • Tracks the availability of staff and contact information for out-of-office staff when appropriate; and
  • Uses respectful language.
  • Codes and files material according to the established procedures;
  • Prepares and sends outgoing faxes, mail, and courier parcels;
  • Assists with publication dissemination; and
  • Uses computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software to prepare reports, memos, and documents.

Salary and Benefits
Standard work week is 20 hours. $21.00 per hour for someone with no directly related paid experience to $24.50 per hour for someone with 5 or more years of directly related paid experience. Sick time and transportation reimbursement for work related travel are included.
