Preferably Based in Spokane, Washington
People with disabilities, people of color, and those from other marginalized or oppressed groups and all protected classes are strongly encouraged to apply. Disability Rights Washington (DRW) looks forward to reviewing all applicants, including applicants who have concerns about how accepting this job could affect their eligibility for Medicaid or other programs.
Health Care Access Navigator Sought
DRW seeks a Health Care Access Navigator to serve youth and adults with autism, and their families, who are insured by Regence as well as other private and public insurers. This statewide program will equip youth, adults and their families with the advocacy skills they need to access necessary health coverage and services today and through the rest of their lives. Our holistic approach will focus in particular on assisting youth to enter into the world of disability, which unfortunately also means simultaneously entering the world of complex advocacy.
The Health Care Access Navigator will deliver services in a number of ways over the next three years, including: creation of written and video materials to help people understand the services available to them, their legal rights related to those services, and how to enforce those rights; and provision of in-person and web-based trainings around the state to help people understand and use the materials created. These services will be delivered statewide to help youth and adults with developmental disabilities and their families understand their support options, how to access those options, and give them the tools they need to secure those services either on their own or, when necessary, with the assistance of Disability Rights Washington lawyers.
