This booklet provides information about the rights of patients who are at the adult psychiatric hospitals run by the State of Washington: Western State Hospital and Eastern State Hospital. The first section explains specific patient rights. The second section explains what a patient may do if he or she disagrees with a decision to limit or take away a right.
Northwest Justice Project (NJP) is Washington's legal aid program for low income persons. NJP provides free legal information, advice, limited assistance, representation, community education, outreach and other community based advocacy. NJP is part of a coalition that maintains the WashingtonLawHelp website, which offers links to legal information and resources on a wide variety of topics.
