Allies in Advocacy Task Force

Washington State Allies in Advocacy came together to assess the disability rights movement in Washington. The group mobilized around key human and civil rights, core to all people, but elusive to individuals with disabilities, despite concerted advocacy efforts over the last 30 years. These issues include: viable employment and career development with living wages;  de-institutionalization and real support for independent living; autonomy in relationship development; authentic decision-making acknowledgement and support; and freedom from abuse, neglect and discrimination in home and community services, education, health care, employment, and every other facet of life.

The group seeks mobilization of a strengthened and effective rights movement, accumulating allies and advocates, and providing technical assistance for advocacy development. Allies in Advocacy developed A Proclamation for the Dignity and Rights of All Human Beings.
